    FENCHLORPHOS

    RESIDUES

    Explanation

The Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) requested the meeting
to reconsider the definition of the residue. The original data
submitted to the 1968 Meeting 1/ and some additional data were
    studied.

The layer chromatographic tests referred to in FAO/WHO 1968b indicate
that the concentration of the oxygen analogue in samples of animal
origin is negligible. The experience of members of the Codex Ad Hoc
Working Group on Methods of Analysis confirms the lack of oxygen
analogue in samples moving in commerce, as reported by the 12th
Session of CCPR, 1980. The exclusion of the oxygen analogue from the
    definition of residues is justified.

    RECOMMENDATION

The Meeting suggested changing the definition of the residue. The
maximum residue limits refer to the parent compound alone. The new
definition does not alter the limits recommended previously.
