5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation
5.1 Animal carcinogenicity data
Ethylenethiourea (ETU) has been tested only by the oral route in rats,
producing thyroid carcinomas. The reported increased incidence of
liver-cell tumours in 2 strains of mice following oral administration
awaits confirmation.
5.2 Human carcinogenicity data
No case reports or epidemiological studies were available to the
Working Group.
