5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation
5.1 Animal carcinogenicity data
Thioacetamide is carcinogenic to mice and rats following oral
administration, the only route tested. It induced liver-cell tumours
in mice and liver-cell and bile duct tumours in rats. No carcinogenic
effects were observed in hamsters following its oral administration.
5.2 Human carcinogenicity data
No case reports or epidemiological studies were available to the
Working Group.
