5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation
5.1 Animal carcinogenicity data
Daunomycin is carcinogenic in rats following intravenous injection of
single doses and in mice following its repeated subcutaneous
injection; it produced mammary and kidney tumours in rats and local
sarcomas in mice. No carcinogenic effect was observed in one oral
study in mice.
5.2 Human carcinogenicity data
No case reports or epidemiological studies were available to the
Working Group.
