5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation
5.1 Animal carcinogenicity data
Lasiocarpine is carcinogenic in rats following its intraperitoneal
injection; it produced malignant tumours of the liver, skin and
intestine. No other routes of administration or species have been
adequately tested (see also the section "General Information and
Conclusions on Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids", in this volume).
5.2 Human carcinogenicity data
No case reports or epidemiological studies were available to the
Working Group.
