5. Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation
5.1 Animal carcinogenicity data
Retrorsine is carcinogenic in rats following its oral administration;
it produced a variety of tumours. No other species or routes of
administration were tested (see also the section "General Information
and Conclusions on Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids", in this volume).
5.2 Human carcinogenicity data
No case reports or epidemiological studies were available to the
Working Group.
