  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Many reactions may cause fire or explosion. See Chemical dangers    See Chemical Dangers.  NO contact with incompatible materials:  In case of fire in the surroundings, use appropriate extinguishing media. Use dry sand.

  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Nausea. Vomiting. Cough. Metallic taste. Lacrimation. Fever.  Use breathing protection, local exhaust and ventilation.  Remove immediately from exposure. Fresh air, rest. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.
Skin No acute symptoms expected.  Protective gloves.  Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.
Eyes Itching. Watering of the eyes.  Wear safety goggles.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention. Do not rub eye(s).
Ingestion Symptoms may appear if large amounts are accidentally ingested. Abdominal pain. Diarrhoea.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of dust or fume, through the eyes and through the skin.

Effects of short-term exposure
Inhalation of fumes may cause metal fume fever. The effects may be delayed.

Inhalation risk
A harmful concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly , especially for fume.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
TLV: 4 mg/m3, as TWA; 10 mg/m3 as STEL

ENVIRONMENT
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. The substance may cause long-term effects in the aquatic environment. This substance does enter the environment under normal use. Great care, however, should be taken to avoid any additional release, for example through inappropriate disposal.

NOTES
No specific CAS number is indicated for ZnO nanoparticles.
