    PONCEAU 4R

    Explanation

         Ponceau 4R was previously reviewed at the 1964, 1969, 1974 and
    1977 Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives. The metabolic,
    long-term and reproduction studies requested by June 1978 have not
    been provided. The long-term toxicity in mice submitted was reviewed
    at the 1974 meeting. The correct reference, however, was omitted from
    the list of references. References should be amended to include:
