PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN FOOD - 1979
Sponsored jointly by FAO and WHO
EVALUATIONS 1979
Joint meeting of the
FAO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Residues
in Food and the Environment
and the
WHO Expert Group on Pesticide Residues
Geneva, 3-12 December 1979
DEMETON-S-METHYL
Explanation
The Meeting in 1973 recommended limits for demeton-S-methyl of 10
mg/kg in animal feed (dry) and 5 mg/kg in animal feed (green). The
11th Session of the CCPR requested that the meeting should
re-appraise the residue data on which these proposals were made and
amend the description "animal feed" to bring it into line with food
commodity descriptions now used by CCPR.
Review of Residue Data
On reviewing the data the Meeting recommended that the earlier
proposal of animal feed (green) 5 mg/kg should be replaced by the
specific recommendations below:
Commodity MRL
(mg/kg)
Alfalfa forage 5
Clover forage 5
Maize forage 5
Sorghum forage 5
Sugar beet leaves 5
Turnip leaves 5
In view of the limited and inconclusive data available, the meeting
recommended that the proposal for "animal feed (dry) 10 mg/kg" be
withdrawn.
