FENAMIPHOS JMPR 1978 Explanation Fenamiphos was evaluated by the 1974 and 1977 Joint Meetings (FAO/WHO, 1975a, 1978a). At the 10th Session of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (Alinorm 79/24: para. 163) the delegation of Australia indicated that they had data which supported a higher MRL for carrots than that proposed (namely 0.05 mg/kg at limit of determination). The evaluation of these data is covered by this monograph addendum. RESIDUES IN FOOD AND THEIR EVALUATION RESIDUES RESULTING FROM SUPERVISED TRIALS Data were obtained on residues arising from the use of fenamiphos on carrots in Australia where the present authorised rate of application is 9.6 kg/ha. These data are shown in the table. TABLE. Residues of fenamiphos in carrots resulting from supervised trials in Australia, 1976 Application Residues (mg/kg) at intervals (days) after application of granules No Rate, kg ai/ha 93 100 103 107 116 122 136 1 9 0.05 0.04 0.02 1 9 0.08 0.07 0.04 1 13 0.13 0.10 0.09 1 9 0.13 RECOMMENDATIONS On the basis of the new residue data obtained from Australia, together with the data evaluated at earlier sessions of the Joint Meeting the following amended MRL for carrots is recommended. The limit is for the sum of fenamiphos, its sulphoxide and its sulphone. This definition of the residue now also applies to previous recommendations, which were formerly for "the sum of fenamiphos, its sulphoxide, and its sulphone, expressed as fenamiphos". Commodity Limit, mg/kg Carrots 0.2
