PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN FOOD - 1984 Sponsored jointly by FAO and WHO EVALUATIONS 1984 The monographs Data and recommendations of the joint meeting of the FAO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Residues in Food and the Environment and the WHO Expert Group on Pesticide Residues Rome, 24 September - 3 October 1984 Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Rome 1985 BROMOPHOS EXPLANATION AND APPRAISAL At the request of the CCPR the meeting reviewed the MRLs for bromophos on a number of commodities. The meeting was informed that for apples the residue data submitted for evaluation in 1982 did not correspond to GAP in the country where the trials were carried out and agreed to reconsider the MRL when adequate information on GAP was available. On reviewing the residue data for lettuce, plums and spinach reported in the 1982 evaluations, the meeting concluded that its earlier recommendations should be changed. RECOMMENDATIONS The following MRLs replace those previously recommended. They refer only to bromophos. Commodity MRL Pre-harvest interval (mg/kg) on which recommendations are based (days) lettuce 1 (decreased from 2) 7 plums 2 (decreased from 5) 14 spinach 1 (decreased from 2) 7 pea straw 0.5 (previously 0.5 for pea fodder)
